Charles J. Van Leeuwen, 80, of St. Paul, passed away at 3:26 p.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.
He was born July 6, 1936 at Parsons, Kansas to Henry and Rose (Mudd) Van Leeuwen. He attended St. Francis High School graduating in 1954. After graduation, he farmed on the family farm with his dad.
On September 3, 1960, he married Jane F. Sicka in Piqua, Kansas at St. Martin's Catholic Church. He resided his entire life on the family farm north of St. Paul. He also worked construction for 30 years for Jim Van Leeuwen Construction and later for Beachner Construction.
He was a life-long member of St. Francis Catholic Church. He was an honorary life-member of the 3 rd and 4 th Degree Knights of Columbus 760, a past Grand Knight, past Faithful Navigator, and four-year District Deputy. He served 12 years on the CUSD 101 School Board and was a past president of CUSD #101 and ANW Special Education Coop. He served as a board member for Neosho County Farm Bureau, Osage Hills Country Club, Rural Water District #8, and was a township committee member. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and woodworking.

Seven Grandchildren – Jeremy Van Leeuwen and his wife, Emily; Joel Van Leeuwen, Jamie Aday and her husband, Brock; Kayla Treiber and husband, Dylan; Carly Newberry, Clay Newberry, and Kai Van Leeuwen

One Sister –Lorene Klein Wichita, KS
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jane Van Leeuwen, on April 16, 2010; two brothers, Bill Van Leeuwen and Max Van Leeuwen; and four sisters, Rose Haegy, Sister Henrita Van Leeuwen, CSJ; Lois Drescher, and Sister Joan Van Leeuwen, S.L.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
