Charlotte E. "Mommy" Pierce, passed away at 6:15 a.m., Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.

She was born in Parsons to Luther, Sr. and Pauline Green on August 21, 1944. As a young girl, Charlotte attended Douglass Elementary School and Parsons Junior High School. She worked at various businesses around town, including the Red Bull and Fred Ronald Manufacturing Company prior to her 22-year tenure as a food service worker at Parsons State Hospital and Training Center. After her retirement in 2006, she continued to work at PSH&TC as a temp cook.

Charlotte and Freddie Pierce, Jr. were joined in marriage in 1963. He preceded her in death in 1975.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Luther Green, Jr.; one daughter, Deborah; and a son, Donald.

Charlotte enjoyed shopping, working crossword puzzles, reading mysteries, and watching Westerns. For those who knew her, knew that her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family and cooking for them, which was her ultimate gesture of love.

Survivors include daughters Gina Holt (David), Brenda Pierce, and Lisa Lawson (Tacuma), all of Parsons; and son Ronald Pierce (Kathleen) of Parsons. She also leaves behind sisters Alice Gatewood of Kansas City, KS, and Virginia Holt of Parsons, and brothers Calvin Green of Ft. Scott, KS and Calvert Green of Parsons, as well as 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
