Charlotte M. Waggoner, 102, of Fort Scott and former longtime resident of rural Parsons, passed away at 6:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at Country Place Living in Fort Scott.
Charlotte Maxine Snodgrass was born on January 9, 1920, to John Edward and Vinita (Swart) Snodgrass in Argonia, Kansas. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Ames, Oklahoma, where she grew up and attended school. In 1938, she graduated from Ames High School.
On September 2, 1941, Charlotte and Darvin Alva Waggoner were united in marriage in Blackwell, Oklahoma. The couple were farmers and ranchers for many years northwest of Parsons. Charlotte was known as the Avon lady, successfully selling cosmetics to many in the Parsons area for 35 years.
She was a member of the Parsons Church of the Nazarene. Her greatest love was her family. Charlotte was very talented at and enjoyed flower gardening, sewing and cooking, especially baking.
Survivors include:
Three sons – Barry Waggoner and his wife, Diane, of Miami, Oklahoma
Randy Waggoner and his wife, Melissa, of Decatur, Texas
Eddy Waggoner and his wife, Tonya, of Parsons, Kansas
One daughter – Sheila Burt and her husband, Darrell, of Fort Scott, Kansas
Fourteen grandchildren
Twenty-four great-grandchildren
Two great-great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her husband, Darvin, on November 17, 2010; one daughter, Sharon Mansfield in 1991; one brother, Noble E. Snodgrass; and one sister, Joyce Moser.
There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 22, 2022 at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Interment of cremains will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons.
