Chester Stapleton, 93, of rural Oswego, passed away at 9:03 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Oswego Health and Rehab.
Chester Lee Stapleton was born on May 28, 1929, to Fred and Margie (Sprouse) Stapleton in Highland, California. When he was one, he moved with his family to Southeast Kansas. He grew up and attended school in the Oswego area.
For 18 years, Chester and two of his brothers worked for Parsons Motors. He then started his own auto repair business, Chester Stapleton Auto Repair, in rural Oswego.
He attended the First Baptist Church in Oswego. Chester loved his farm. For a few years, he farmed and raised cattle. He also enjoyed crappie fishing.
On May 15, 1950, Chester and Peggy J. Addis were united in marriage at the First Methodist Church in Oswego. She survives of the home.

One son – Mark Stapleton and his wife, Vicky, of rural Oswego, Kansas
One daughter – Peggy L. Campbell and her husband, Mike, of Hallowell, Kansas
Three grandchildren – Justin Stapleton and his wife, Yvonne; Chris Stapleton and his wife, Lauren; and Ryan Campbell and his wife, Erin
Five great-grandchildren
One brother – George Stapleton and his wife, Phyllis, of Oswego, Kansas
Two sisters – Lula Mae Villigus of Oswego, Kansas
Rachel Nance of Rolla, Missouri
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
There will be a Celebration of Life 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Oswego First Baptist Church.
