Chester S. Suchyta, 89, of Parsons, died at 5:05 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Labette Health in Parsons.
He was born November 11, 1923, in Detroit, Michigan, to Ignatius and Frances (Jaroz) Suchyta. He grew up in Detroit where he attended St. John's Cantius Catholic School. For a time, he worked at Civilian Conservation Corps camps and also as a machinist at Mirror Manufacturing Company.
He served in the United States Navy from January of 1942 through October of 1947. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Detroit where he attended Detroit Institute of Technology. He then worked as a machinist at Lockheed Aircraft Company in California until retiring following 30 years of service. In 1998, he moved to Redmond, Oregon, to be near family, and in April of 2011, relocated to Parsons where he had lived since.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons where he especially enjoyed attending Eucharistic adoration and, in earlier years, was a member of the Holy Name Society. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, exercising and volunteering at St. Vincent DePaul Society.
He and Maria Ana Kujawa were married January 26, 1946, in Detroit, Michigan. She preceded him in death on April 4, 1996.

Two Daughters – Dianne Yarbrough and her husband, Dr. Gary Yarbrough, of Parsons, KS; and Daria Nelson and her husband, Gary, of Redmond, OR

He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and one son, Stanley Suchyta.
The requiem funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 13, 2013, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the church where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
