Clarece M. Asbill

Clarece M. Asbill, 89, of Parsons, died at 5:11 p.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Elmhaven West Nursing Home.

She was born August 22, 1923, in Joplin, Missouri, to Floyd Sherman and Marhea (Lawson) Higginbotham. As a young girl, she grew up in the Joplin area and was a graduate of Joplin Memorial High School.

She and Milton P. Asbill were married December 27, 1941, in Joplin. Following marriage, they moved to Anderson, Missouri, for one year and, in 1942, moved to Parsons where they made their home and raised their family.

Through the years, she worked as a cook at McKinley Elementary School and West Jr. High School and later was employed by L & N Sundries.

She was a member of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church, now Faith United Methodist Church, in Parsons where she taught Sunday school numerous years and was pianist for children's church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and attending auctions.

Nine Great-Grandchildren
One Great-Great-Grandson

Bernice Richards Alexander, AR

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Asbill, on April 29, 2008; one brother, Rex Higginbotham; and one granddaughter, Erica.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013, at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience from 1-8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.

Memorials are suggested to Elmhaven West Activity Fund. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
