Clarence R. "Joe" Farran, 80, of Parsons, died at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 15, 2008 at Labette Health.
He was born August 9, 1928 in Conway, Missouri to John W. and Edna May (Malone) Farran.
As a child, he moved with his family first to Cherryvale then to Parsons. He attended Parsons schools. He joined the United States Army and served until 1951. Following his discharge he returned to Parsons. He worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for a time. He later worked for USD 503 in maintenance retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the Brown-Bishop Post #704 Veterans of Foreign Wars where he assisted with the honor guard. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He and Ilse were married in 1945. She survives of the home.

Two brothers – Lester L. Farran Las Cruces, New Mexico
Wesley L. Farran Phoenix, Arizona
Three sisters – Emily Williams San Antonio, Texas
Gerry Myers Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Cora Rose Orrel Bartlesville, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by one brother, John, one sister, Sharon Kay, and two grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery in Fort Scott, Kansas. The Brown-Bishop post #704 Veterans of Foreign Wars will be in charge of Military Honors.
