Clarita (Smith) Bryant

Clarita (Smith) Bryant, 73, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017.

She was born September 24, 1943 in Parsons, Kansas to Henry and Catherine (Maus) Smith. She was raised in St. Paul, Kansas and graduated from St. Mary College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

On February 10, 1968, she married Milton Bryant, her husband of 49 years. Clarita was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a devout Catholic who had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. For over 45 years, she was an active member of St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church. She was also a devoted volunteer at Little Sisters of the Poor and the St. James Soup Kitchen.

Survivors include her husband, Milton Bryant; daughter, Cassandra Lewis; sons, Gerald "Gary" Bryant and his wife, Kelly, Steven Bryant and his wife, Mylane, and John Bryant and his partner Susan; grandchildren, Connor and Fletcher Lewis, Dillon, McKinnley, Kaiden, and Quinn Bryant; brothers, Lon, Miles, Jim, and J.B. Smith; sisters, Cathy O'Hara and Colleen Vitek, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. A special thank you to treasured family and friends for their support and many prayers during Clarita's illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brothers, Larry and Gene Smith, and other loved ones.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 11, 2017 St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul followed by burial at St. Francis Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
