Claudine D. Barnett, 75, of Altamont, died at 8:45 p.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at the Presbyterian Manor in Parsons.
She was born June 22, 1931 in Parsons to Claude T. and Nina P. (Tipping) Payne.
As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools in Parsons, graduating from Parsons Senior High School in 1949.
She and Homer Thompson were married and later divorced. On January 23, 1954, she and Richard L. Barnett were married in Coffeyville. He survives of the home. Through the years, she had resided in Parsons, Coffeyville, on a farm south of Altamont, and for the past 40 years, in Altamont. Due to declining health, she had resided at Presbyterian Manor in Parsons the past three years.
She had been employed by Broderick's Clothing Manufacturing Company, Bellas Hess as store manager, Parsons Ice Plant as bookkeeper; Labette County Sheriff's Department as dispatcher and had retired from the Kansas State Department of Social Rehabilitation Services as bookkeeper.
Her hobbies included knitting and crocheting many beautiful gifts for family and friends, including a banner of the Lord's Supper which she had donated to the First Baptist Church in Altamont. She also enjoyed artistic painting and recreational camping. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling and was a soprano in the music group, Polychromes.
Her memberships included the First Baptist Church in Altamont where she was also a choir member and the Altamont Homemaker's Extension Unit.

She was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Vickie Marian Barnett.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Altamont. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service.
