Clifford D. Kibler

October 4, 1932 — August 19, 2007

Clifford D. Kibler, 74, a longtime resident of Altamont, died at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 19, 2007, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home in Parsons. He had been in failing health.

He was born October 4, 1932, in Lamar, Missouri, to John and Helen (Bruner) Kibler. He grew up and attended schools in Lamar, graduating from Lamar High School. He enlisted in the United States Army serving from January 16, 1952, to December 19, 1953. Following his discharge, he attended one year of trade school in the electrical program at Pittsburg State University. He was employed as an electrician for 31 years at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons, retiring in 1999.


He and Archalyn "Archie" Jenkins were married December 2, 1961, in Lamar, Missouri. She preceded him in death December 13, 1998.



His family moved to Altamont in 1967, having lived there since. He was a member of the Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion in Parsons and Oswego, the Jaycees in Lamar, Missouri, Altamont Masonic Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M., and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 26, in Topeka. He was an avid gardener and loved going out to breakfast.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont with Burial Rites given by the Altamont Masonic Lodge #69 A.F. & A.M and military honors given by Brown-Bishop Post No. 704 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
