Clinton Myers, Jr., 79, of Parsons, passed away at his home early Tuesday, November 4, 2014.
He was born September 26, 1935 in Carthage, Missouri to Clinton K. and Edith (Jones) Myers. As a young boy, he lived in various towns and was a graduate of Dexter High School in Dexter, Kansas.
Following high school, he lived in Colorado and California. He then was an over-the-road truck driver for Mayflower Trucking for two years before moving to Parsons in 1954. While living in Parsons, he worked at Parsons Cold Storage before returning to California where he again worked as a truck driver. After living in California for a short time, he returned to Parsons.
On March 26, 1956, he married Rosalee Mulberry in Miami, Oklahoma. For a time, they lived in California before returning to Parsons in 1957 where he again worked at Parsons Cold Storage. In 1963, they moved to Leavenworth where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Upon his return to Parsons, he worked at the Parsons Grain Terminal and Southwest Carbon. He most recently owned and operated J & J Catering for 18 years before retiring.
He was a member of Our Father's Vineyard and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Rosalee Myers, of the home; one son, Donald Myers and wife, Deanna, Wichita, KS; five daughters, Patricia Dickerson and husband, Bill, Parsons, KS, Karen Cruse and husband, Keith, Parsons, KS, Cindy Treiber and husband, Patrick, Parsons, KS, Edith Elaine Myers, Carthage, MO, and Mary French and husband, Jay, Parsons, KS; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-five great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter; a brother-in-law, James Koger, Parsons, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Sharon Willis; a grandson, Joshua Dickerson; and a great-granddaughter, Clarissa Sloniker.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
