Connie Jo Kay

Connie Jo Kay, 74, of Breese, Illinois, and formerly of Mound Valley, Kansas, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Breese Nursing Home in Breese.

Connie Jo Dessenberger was born on February 27, 1949, to Ralph and Wanda (Cramer) Dessenbeger in Parsons, Kansas.  She grew up and attended school in the Mound Valley area, graduating from Labette County High School in 1967.

For many years, Connie owned and operated a 7-11 franchise in Oswego.  In addition to other jobs, she spent many years as caregiver and eventually retired from Amazon.

Connie will be remembered for her caring and giving nature.  She adored her family and grandchildren.  She always enjoyed playing games and listening to oldies music.

Survivors include:

One son – Cory "Scott" Anderson of Coffeyville, Kansas

One daughter – Melissa Mitchell of O'Fallon, Illinois

Three grandchildren – Katelyn Boatman, Sydney Sturgeon, and Derek Raschen

Five great-grandchildren – Ella, Easton, and Emerson Sturgeon; and Elowyn and Jack Boatman

One sister – Sharon Billingsly of Mound Valley, Kansas

She was preceded in death by her parents.

There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 16, 2024, at Mound Valley Cemetery in Mound Valley.
