Consuelo J. "Connie" (Gonzalez) Perez, 93, of Parsons, passed away at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Parsons Presbyterian Manor.

She was born in Benedict, Kansas on July 29, 1922 to Guadalupe and Eufemia (Gil) Gonzalez. Connie graduated from Fredonia High School in May of 1940.

In June of 1940, Connie worked as a nanny for the McDonald family in Fredonia. In the fall of 1943, she worked in Fredonia at a restaurant until moving in the fall of 1944 to Wichita where she was employed by Boeing until the war ended. She then worked briefly at Beechcraft before returning to Fredonia in the winter of 1945.

On January 30, 1947, she and Michael C. "Mike" Perez were married at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Following marriage, the couple lived with his parents on North Central in Parsons for one year before moving to a small house on North Boulevard.

Connie was a stay-at-home mom while raising their family. In April of 1952, the family moved to their home on Glenwood. In 1953, she worked the second shift at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant for one year. In 1966, she was employed at Broderick's where she worked for six years.

In April of 1972, Mike and Connie began operating the El Chico Restaurant at the VFW. In 1973, Connie was hired by Grandview Products where she worked for the next four years.

In 1977, she began working as a Produce Manager at Greaves Nu-Way in Parsons. Later she worked at Kay's Gift Shop until its closing. For a time, she then worked at Son's Steakhouse. In 1987, she began working at JC Penney's until its closing in 2003. She then briefly worked at Country Mart in the Floral Department.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and was instrumental in founding the Voz organization in Parsons. She especially enjoyed traveling to visit her family and loved to dance to her Mexican music. After celebrating 69 years of marriage this past January, Connie was preceded her in death by her loving husband on February 13, 2016.

Robert Perez and his wife Luci Parsons, KS
Gary Perez Parsons, KS
Mark Perez Parsons, KS
Greg Perez and his wife Vanessa Allen, TX
Two Daughters- Becky Jacquinot and her husband, Ray Parsons, KS
Marisa Seferovich and her husband, John Overland Park, KS
Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.
One Sister – Josephine Fleming Texas

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters.

The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 6, 2016 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parsons. The rosary will be prayed at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends immediately following the rosary, on Sunday, at the funeral home.
