Cory R. Smith

Cory R. Smith, 20, of Altamont, died at 9:20 a.m., November 18, 2006 at the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. He had been in failing health.

He was born June 30, 1986 in Burlington, Kansas to Mark L. Smith and Tina M. (Reeves) Smith. His family moved to Altamont in January of 1987. He attended schools in Altamont and graduated from Labette County High School in 2004. While in school he was a member of the Future Farmers of America.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and building model cars with his father. He also enjoyed playing sports, especially baseball. On October 16, 2001, he was baptized and became a member of the Altamont Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather and an infant sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2006 at the Altamont Christian Church. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Altamont.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

Memorials are suggested to the Cory Smith Memorial Fund. The memorials will be used to benefit Altamont City baseball fields and various youth hunting organizations.
