Cruz M. Perez, 96, of Parsons, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society – Parsons nursing home.
She was born April 15, 1918 in Cacalote, Mexico to Nicolas and Natividad Kilo. She married Lawrence C. Perez on January 9, 1937. He preceded her in death on June 7, 1975.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and the Iris Club. She was a regular volunteer at St. Vincent DePaul Society. Cruz enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, listening to country and western music, and watching her favorite soap operas.
Survivors include one daughter, Rachel Vargas (Benny), Shawnee, KS; two sons, Ernest Perez (Karen), Parsons, KS, and Fred Perez (Rosa), Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Debbie Rodriguez (Rick), Ben Vargas of Shawnee Kansas, Gina Perez, Neto Perez, Nikkii Rosenstiel (Scott), Jeff Perez all of Parsons, Joey Royer (Leah) of Oswego, Kansas, Nina Mason (Larry), James Perez (Carrie) all of Dalhart, Texas, Kimberly Perez of Springfield, Missouri, Toby Perez of Greenforce, Arkansas, Larry Perez (Melanie) of Walters, Oklahoma, Aron Peterson (Kelly) of Kaufman, Texas, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Cruz was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Artie Joe Perez, who passed away on January 3, 1974.
The funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary, led by the Daughters of Isabella, will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2014, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
