Crystal M. Jump

Crystal (McPherson) Jump, 99, of Parsons, passed away at 4:47 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Labette Health.

She was born June 16, 1918 in Oak Valley, Kansas to Silas Oliver and Jennie W. (Garner) McPherson. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Fredonia and was a 1936 graduate of Fredonia High School. After high school, she worked at Kansas Bank Note Company and JC Penney, both in Fredonia.

On September 16, 1939, she and Glenn D. Jump were married in Independence, Kansas. In the 1940s, the couple moved to Parsons where she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and later at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center until retiring.

Crystal was a former member of the Central Avenue Christian Church in Parsons. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, making quilts, sewing, playing bingo, and working word search puzzles. She also enjoyed collecting teacups. Crystal was affectionately called "Granny" by her family and many friends.

Gary Jump and his wife, Pai, of Lawrence, KS

Thomas Jump and his wife, Darlene, of Richmond, TX

One Daughter – Glenda Stice and her husband, Norman, of Parsons, KS

One Sister – Doris Wever of Bella Vista, AR

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Jump, on November 23, 1962; one daughter, Carolyn Browne; one grandson, Thomas Mac, II; four brothers, Paul, Erbie, Frank, and Bruce; and six sisters, Eulalia, Zeda, Blossom, Marigold, Betty, and Billie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
