Curtis E. Wolgamott, 74, of McCune, passed away at 5:40 a.m., Monday, February 24, 2020, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul.

Curtis Eugene Wolgamott was born on February 2, 1946, to Richard and Mary Jane (Ball) Wolgamott in Parsons, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in Parsons. In 1965, Curtis graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

Following graduating from high school, Curtis worked for Swift and Company for a time. He then worked for the MKT and upon his retirement from the Union Pacific had completed 43 years on the railroad.

Curtis was a member of NARVRE, and the VFW Auxiliary, participating in numerous Honor Guard ceremonies. He had also served as president of the Parsons Bowling League in the past. One of his greatest enjoyments came from playing games, including bowling, cards and Dominoes. He also played men's slow-pitch softball for years and enjoyed fishing.

On July 1, 1974, Curtis and Elsie M. Hansen were married in Elsie's mother's backyard in Montana, Kansas. She survives of the home.

Two grandchildren – John Mullins and Richeal Wolgamott both of Parsons

Three great-grandchildren – Marley Mae, Makaius and Lorelei

Two brothers – John Wolgamott and his wife, Linda, of Altamont

Robert Wolgamott and his wife, Frances, of Parsons

One sister – Mary Deen of Parsons

Numerous Nieces, Nephews and Cousins

A host of friends

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Richard Lee Wolgamott; and his brother, Richard Lee Wolgamott.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends 6 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at a later date at the McCune Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the VFW Brown-Bishop Post 704, the American Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice. These may e left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
