Cynthia E. (Harvey) Johnson, 78, passed away on March 19, 2020, in Detroit, Michigan.
Cynthia Elaine Harvey was born on July 31, 1941 in Parsons to the union of Herman and Audrey (Armstrong) Harvey, Jr. She grew up and attended schools in Parsons and graduated from Parsons High School in 1959. She was married shortly after and to this union two children were born, Yvette Charisse and Devery Gordon.
In 1961, Cynthia was baptized and became a member of Hamilton Chapel Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the adult choir and was an MYF counselor.
In 1965, she moved to Detroit, Michigan and began working for Michigan Bell. After the Michigan Bell divesture in 1980, she went on to work for AT&T until retiring in October of 1999.
Survivors include her daughter, Yvette Hinton, of Detroit, Michigan
One sister, Phyllis (Milton) Washington of Dallas, Texas
One Niece, Andreanna Tylor of Dallas, Texas
Nephews – Daman (Christy) Washington and Brandon (Farzia) Washington of Austin, Texas
And a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, and her son. Her wit and outlook on life will be missed by all.
A private family service will be held Friday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons. Burial will follow at Oakhill cemetery in Chetopa. Friends may come to the funeral home from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. to view and sign the register book.
