Mound Valley

Daisy Lee Bamberry, 79, of Mound Valley, passed away at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2018 at her home.

She was born March 5, 1939 in Independence, Kansas to Walter L. and Tima "Leona" (Darbro) Harpster.  As a young girl, she grew up and attended schools at Powell Valley and Elk City, Kansas.  Daisy graduated in 1957 from Elk City High School.

On June 16, 1957, she and George Keith Bamberry were married in Elk City.  Following marriage, the couple lived in rural Parsons, Kansas.  To this union, five children were born, Randall Keith, Tracy Jolene, Gerald Linn, Richard Leroy and Linda Diane.  She was preceded in death by her husband on October 8, 1978. In 1985, Daisy moved to Mound Valley where she had lived since.

Through the years, Daisy worked at various businesses including Fred Ronald Manufacturing Company, Broderick's, GlassTek, Signature Sportswear, and Dayton Superior all in Parsons, Emerson Electric in Independence, and Amazon in Coffeyville.

She enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, and playing with her great-grandson, Kayden Keith Marney.

Survivors include:

Three Sons – Randy K. Bamberry of Parsons, KS

Gerald L. Bamberry of Mound Valley, KS

Richard L. Bamberry of Edna, KS

Two Daughters – Tracy J. Bamberry of Mound Valley, KS

Linda D. (Bamberry) Wooten of Mound Valley, KS

Five Grandchildren

Seven Great-Grandchildren

Two Great-Great-Grandchildren and one "on the way"

One Brother – Walter E. Harpster of Mound Valley, KS

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Vernon Harpster; one sister, Agnes Hinkle; and two grandchildren, Zebulon Wonser and Justin Wonser.

The family will receive friends from 1-5:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.

Memorials are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice.  These may be left at or mailed to Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 325, Altamont, KS 67330.
