Daniel W. "Dan" Baker, 59, of Edna, passed away early Friday, March 30, 2018 at his home.

He was born April 6, 1958 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Roscoe Wade Baker and Marilyn Wauneta (Carney) Baker.  He grew up in the Edna, Kansas area where he also attended school.  He graduated in 1976 from Labette County High School.  Dan lived in Edna until moving to Coffeyville in 1989.  In 1998, he returned to Edna, where he has lived since then.

Dan was united in marriage to Julie Ann Dozier in 1987.  She preceded him in death in 1997.  He was married to Rhonda Lee Stapleton, they later divorced.  Dan worked for the former Dozier Liquor Store in Coffeyville, now renamed the M&W Retail Liquor Store, for over 30 years and was employed there as the manager at the time of his passing.

Dan loved guns and was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association.  He was also a licensed locksmith and avid history buff.  He especially enjoyed western history and enjoyed reading and writing western poetry.

Dan has previously served as a Councilman and Mayor for the City of Edna.

Survivors include three sons, Matthew Hickman-Baker and his wife, Alana, of Joplin, MO, Joshua Baker and his wife, Cassidee, of St. Paul, KS, Jacob Baker and his wife, Alisha, of Columbus; two daughters, Rachel Hickman-Baker of Wisconsin Dells, WI and Kelsey Baker and her companion, Trenton Mayberry, of Girard, KS; eleven grandchildren, Caydee, Lilly, Berjusa, Abbigale, Hanna, Jonah, Brady, Malaree, Julia, Russell and Annabelle; one great-grandson, Sylus; step-mother, Pam Baker of Bartlett, KS; two sisters, Lori Martin of Pittsburg, KS and Beth Davis of Topeka, KS.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Julie; an infant brother, Andrew Baker; and two brothers-in-law.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April, 7, 2018 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont with Pastor Lane Roberts officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.
