Danny L. Thornton, 58, of Joplin, Missouri, formerly of Parsons, died Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at his home.
He was born November 16, 1952, in Parsons, Kansas, to Edwin L. "Roy" and Geraldine (Adams) Thornton. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons. Through the years he had worked as a sales representative at Thornton Sales, later known as Slayman Beverage, and Eastern Distributing before moving to Joplin in 1997.
He enjoyed watching Roy Rogers movies, riding motorcycles and playing pool.
He and Sheila Abney were married December 2, 1972, in Parsons. They later divorced.
He is survived by one daughter, Jamie McDaniel and her husband, Dale, of Dennis, KS; and a half-brother, Robert Davis, of Cherryvale, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Uncle Ralph and Aunt Velma Dannels whom he had lived with growing up; and Aunt Nadine McAdam, his mother's twin sister.
Following cremation, memorial graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 17, 2011, at Oakwood Cemetery. The Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons is in charge of arrangements.
