Darvin A. Waggoner

Darvin A. Waggoner, 92, of Parsons, died at 7:20 p.m., Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Labette Health. His death was unexpected.

He was born February 25, 1918, in Garfield County, Oklahoma, to Alva Garland "A.G." and Tracy Elizabeth (Frazier) Waggoner. He grew up and attended school in Oklahoma and was a graduate of Waukomis High School.

He and Charlotte Maxine Snodgrass were married September 2, 1941, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. Following marriage, the couple lived in Oklahoma and, for a time, in rural Thayer, Kansas. In 1950, they returned to the rural Newkirk, Oklahoma, area before moving to rural Altamont in 1955. In 1963, they moved to a farm northwest of Parsons where they had lived until moving to Parsons Presbyterian Manor in 2007.

He was a farmer and stockman and through the years had also worked for Midwest Minerals and Grandview Products. He loved his chosen profession of farming and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and tending his fruit trees. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons. Through the years he had served as Co-op board member and had received the 1972 Soil Conservation Award.

Three Sons – Barry Waggoner and wife, Diane Miami, OK
Randy Waggoner and wife, Melissa Runaway Bay, TX
Eddy Waggoner and wife, Tonya Parsons, KS
One Daughter – Sheila Burt and husband, Darrell Ft. Scott, KS
Fourteen Grandchildren
Sixteen Great-Grandchildren
One Great-Great-Granddaughter
One Brother – Agner Waggoner Marlow, OK
One Sister – Wilma Clark Waukomis, OK

He was preceded in death by one brother, Nathan Waggoner; and one daughter, Sharon Mansfield in 1991.



Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 22, 2010, at the Church of the Nazarene in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m., Sunday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
