David Brown, 84, of Mound Valley, passed away at 3:30 p.m., Monday, March 3, 2014 at his home.
He was born September 9, 1929 in Seal Beach, California to Russell Potomac and Beatrice Delia (Bishop) Brown.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge, he was awarded The Purple Heart. After 27 years of employment at Heartland Cement Plant, David retired in 1994.
He was a member and former trustee of the First Baptist Church in Mound Valley. He enjoyed fishing, building fence, woodworking, and canoeing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On October 15, 1974, he and Mary F. Aldrich were married in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph A. Brown; one sister, Mary M. Frye; and stepson, Clifford Poole.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 6, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Mound Valley. Burial will be in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the church.
