David A. Cannon

David A. Cannon, 60, of Parsons, passed away at 11:25 a.m., Friday, October 24, 2014 at Labette Health surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was born August 27, 1954 in Neodesha, Kansas to Benjamin G. and Helen M. (Lever) Cannon. He lived in several cities with his family while his father was in the construction of missile bases. He moved with his family to Parsons where he graduated from Parsons High School in 1972. After high school, he worked with his brother building bridges for 18 years in the Kansas City area. He also worked in the oil fields and most recently was employed by Power Flame, Inc. in Parsons as a welder. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local Union 168. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the Three Sixes motorcycle club. David also enjoyed fishing, reading, and in earlier years hunting with his brother, Steve. He especially enjoyed having tea parties with his granddaughter, Abby, and playing army and soldiers with his grandson, Landon. He and Teresa Fullerton were married June 21, 1997 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Andrea Downey (Casey Cramer), Mound Valley, KS; three grandchildren, Landon, Abrielle, and Raelynn; and two sisters, Ronna Howerton (Kevin), Gas, KS and Donita Boone (Kevin), Parsons, KS, -in-laws, Bill and Freida (Fullerton) Highley, Oronogo, MO; brother-in-law, Rick Fullerton (Janet), Yates Center, KS; numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin G. Cannon, on July 1, 1974; his mother, Helen M. Brinkman, on August 19, 2009; and one brother, Steven B. Cannon, who died on January 8, 2005. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the funeral home.
