David A. Martinez, 25, of Parsons, died Tuesday evening, July 2, 2013 of injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Parsons.
He was born March 20, 1988 at Dallas, Texas to David Gonzalez and Cecelia Leon. As a young boy, he moved with his family to Parsons where he had lived since. He attended Parsons schools. Over the years, he worked mowing lawn and doing handyman work. He loved playing video games, drawing, skateboarding, watching movies and especially enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.
Survivors include:
Companion: Tawyna Reasoner – of the home
Three Daughters: Kamri Wilson, Angelina Martinez and Maria Martinez – of the home
Mother: Cecelia R. Leon – Parsons, Kansas
Two Brothers: Uvaldo Perez, Jr. – Dallas, Texas
John Martinez – Dallas, Texas
One Sister: Margaret De La Cruz – Parsons, Kansas
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jose Perez-Martinez.
The funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Parsons. Cremation will follow the service with burial at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to an education fund for David's children. These may be left at or mailed to Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 374, Parsons, KS 67357.
