Dean Froebe, 84, of rural Cherryvale, passed away at 10:07 p.m., Monday, April 1, 2019 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 13, 1934 in rural Liberty, Kansas to Louis "Leroy" and Fern Marie (Hudiburg) Froebe. As a young boy, Dean grew up on the family farm near Liberty and later moved with his family to rural Mound Valley. He attended Mound Valley Grade School and graduated from Labette County Community High School in Altamont.
Following high school, Dean proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Korea from July of 1953 until his honorable discharge in July of 1957. After his discharge, he returned to Mound Valley. In earlier years, he worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons and later as a machinist at ACC Standard Motor Products in Independence for 25 years until retiring. Dean also farmed and raised horses for many years.
He was a member of the Mound Valley United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. Dean especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
On August 27, 1961, Dean and Dona Jo Lutz were married in Mound Valley. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to her death on September 23, 2011.

One Daughter – Debbie Hudson of Bartlesville, OK
Eight Grandchildren
One Brother – Kenneth Froebe and his wife, Shirley, of rural Mound Valley, KS
Three Sisters – Evelyn Lawrence and her husband, George, of Brentwood, TN
Marilyn Rutledge of Coffeyville, KS
Pam Hardman and her husband, Butch, of Parsons, KS
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Candice Tarkington; and one brother, Ron Froebe.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019 at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Friday, at the church.
