Del R. Veenstra

Del R. Veenstra, 52, of Mound Valley, died unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, November 11, 2012. He was born October 11, 1960, in Harvey, Illinois, to Daniel and Mardell (Whitten) Veenstra. As a young boy, he grew up in Mound Valley where he attended school. For a time, he lived in Florida before moving to Canon City, Colorado where he lived for 18 years. While living in Colorado, he worked as an auto body technician. He returned to Mound Valley four years ago. He enjoyed the mountains, ATV's, motorcycles, cars and collecting coins. He and Cheryl Yoakum were married December 30, 1978, in Brandon, Florida. They later divorced. Survivors include: Father – Dan Veenstra, Sr. Mound Valley, KS Mother – Mardell Veenstra Mound Valley, KS Four Daughters - Michelle Yoakum Seffner, FL Christina Zagone Roy, UT ReyDel Veenstra NH Brittany Veenstra Canon City, CO Three Grandchildren Five Brothers – Daniel Veenstra, Jr. and his wife, Judy Mound Valley, KS Joe Veenstra and his wife, "Little Bit" Tampa, FL Robert Veenstra and his wife, Ann Mound Valley, KS Craig Veenstra and his wife, Shelly Wichita, KS Herman Veenstra and wife, Tanya Edna, KS He was preceded in death by one grandson, Stephen Veenstra. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Following visitation, the body will be cremated.
