Del R. Veenstra, 52, of Mound Valley, died unexpectedly at his home, Sunday, November 11, 2012.
He was born October 11, 1960, in Harvey, Illinois, to Daniel and Mardell (Whitten) Veenstra. As a young boy, he grew up in Mound Valley where he attended school.
For a time, he lived in Florida before moving to Canon City, Colorado where he lived for 18 years. While living in Colorado, he worked as an auto body technician. He returned to Mound Valley four years ago.
He enjoyed the mountains, ATV's, motorcycles, cars and collecting coins.
He and Cheryl Yoakum were married December 30, 1978, in Brandon, Florida. They later divorced.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Stephen Veenstra.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2012, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont. Following visitation, the body will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 16, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Mound Valley.
