Della I. Davidson, 79, of Altamont, died unexpectedly Sunday, November 5, 2017 at her home.
She was born July 13, 1938 near Liberty, Kansas to George Franklin and Gladys Irene (Dickerson) Lee. As a young girl, Della lived in the South Coffeyville area and later attended Labette County Community High School in Altamont where she graduated in 1957.
On August 17, 1962, she and Dwayne Ivan Davidson were married in Independence, Kansas. Following marriage, the couple resided in rural Altamont where they raised their family of six children. He preceded her in death on May 6, 2004.
Della's family was her passion and the joy of her life. She cherished each of them in her own special way. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their activities. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-great-grandchild. Della loved being a homemaker and babysitter. In 1981, she began her employment at Unified School District 506 where she worked as a bus driver and later took over the laundry of the sports uniforms in the Athletic Department. She especially enjoyed working around the students and supporting "her teams." Della was an avid fan of the LCHS Grizzlies, enjoyed cooking, and was always willing to go the extra mile for others. She will be genuinely missed.
