Demetria "Dani" D. Dixon

March 1, 1969 — May 23, 2010

Demetria "Dani" Dixon, 41, of Parsons, died at 9:55 p.m., Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, following a courageous battle with breast cancer.

She was born March 1, 1969, in Oakland, California, to Nate Pratt and Janice Beard. As an infant, she moved with her family to Parsons where she grew up and attended schools. She was a 1987 graduate of Parsons High School and earned an Associate's degree from Labette Community College where she also played softball and basketball.


Following college, she coached girls' basketball at Parsons High School, and later worked at the Youth Crisis Shelter, Class LTD and Cato's. She then moved to Kansas City where she worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center two years. Upon her return to Parsons, she worked at Labette Health as registration coordinator and clinic coordinator.

She was a member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church and its God's Leading Ladies group, and was currently serving on the Parsons Housing Authority Board of Commission. She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, enjoyed cooking, and listening to music. She was a very compassionate and caring person who especially enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and co-workers.

She and William Lee Dixon were married June 10, 2006, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives of the home.

One Stepdaughter – Leeyanna Rene Dixon Olathe, KS

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 28, 2010, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
