Demple L. Kastler

Demple L. Kastler, 95, of Altamont, died at 11:50 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society. She was born April 12, 1917 in rural Craig County, Oklahoma, to Harry Howe and Nettie (Jackman) Howe. She grew up in rural Oklahoma graduating from Centralia High School in Centralia, Oklahoma, in 1936. She and Chester Kastler were married on November 23, 1938 in Vinita, Oklahoma. They made their home near Valeda, Kansas, for many years. After raising their eight children, she worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons from 1967 to 1977. Mr. Kastler preceded her in death on December 15, 1986. In 1992, she moved to Altamont. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, playing cards, and quilting. She also enjoyed poetry which she shared with her family in their birthday cards. She was a member of the former Altamont Christian Church. Survivors: Five Sons – Dean Kastler and wife, Sharilyn South Coffeyville, OK Clyde Kastler and wife, Carol Jean Coffeyville, KS Cecil Kastler and wife, Liz South Coffeyville, OK Clint Kastler and wife, Jana Coffeyville, KS Chris Kastler and wife, Paula Altamont, KS Two Daughters – Ellen Sandusky and husband, Johnny Altamont, KS Nancy Best Altamont, KS 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Harry Kastler, on February 5, 1990; all six brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Edna. Burial will follow at the North Edna Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday. Memorials are suggested to Gideon's International, the Parsons Good Samaritan Society or Southern Care Hospice.
