Dicy E. Janssen, 96, of Erie, passed away at 3:30 a.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Society of Parsons.
She was born July 2, 1921 in rural Stark, Kansas to Melvin Russell and Gladys Alta (Mathers) Williamson. As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in the Stark area and was a 1940 graduate of the Grant Township High School.
On January 29, 1942, she and Ralph E. Janssen were married. Dicy was a homemaker and loved being home when their children returned from school.
She was a 60-year member of the First Christian Church in Erie where she served for many years as a deaconess, Sunday school superintendent, and chairman of the funeral dinner committee. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of Kiwanis where she had served as past president. Dicy loved to do embroidery, cook, and had made a quilt for each of her six children.

Two Daughters – Marsha Cleaver and husband, Wayne Cleora, OK
Catherine Cleaver and husband, Eldon Chanute, KS

Brother-in-law – John Baker Houston, TX
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Marion Lynn Janssen, on August 10, 1973; and two sisters, Mary Baker and Laurel Goodwin.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church in Erie. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
