Don L. Gould, 74, of Overland Park and former longtime Parsons resident, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center. His death was unexpected. He is survived by his wife, Toni, of the home,
Don was born January 11 th , 1946 in Portsmouth Virginia to Ted and Ora Lea Gould. His passion for music started at an early age. Don was saxophonist and vocalist for the Rising Sons and Sensational Showmen. He spent the next few years traveling the world, allowing for people from all over to enjoy his talents. Don was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of fame in 2009.
Don graduated from Chanute High School in 1964; from there he served 2 years active duty in the National Guard. He went to Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas where he received his Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Don was owner and operator of KMYZ FM/AM in the Tulsa Oklahoma broadcasting area. He spent the next 40+ years in the auto industry, where he was manager of various automotive dealerships in Parsons and Pittsburg Kansas.
Don Gould and Toni Ann Moon were united in holy matrimony at First United Methodist Church on June 29 th , 1974, in Parsons, Kansas. They spent 46 wonderful years together. In 2015, Toni and Don retired in Overland Park, Kansas. Don is survived by his wife, Toni, and his son, Kyle Gould, who resides in Kansas City, Missouri.
In his retirement, Don enjoyed traveling, doing yard work and watching Chiefs games with his son, Kyle, who was the light of his life.
The family is requesting a private graveside service. The service is under the direction of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
