Dona Jo Froebe, 71, of rural Cherryvale, died at 3:31 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center. She had been in failing health.
She was born April 8, 1940 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma to Edward and Nancy (Hensley) Lutz. She grew up and attended school in the Mound Valley area. She graduated from High School at the Labette County High School. Dona Jo worked for Farm Service Agency for a time. She also worked for the Mound Valley Experiment Station for a time until starting work at the Farm Service Agency at Independence where she worked until retiring.
Dona Jo enjoyed quilting and collecting milk glass. She also enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Mound Valley United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women there.
She was united in marriage to Dean Froebe on August 27, 1961 at Mound Valley. They had celebrated their 50th anniversary last month.

Two Brothers: Alfred Lutz – Oswego, Kansas
Cleo Lutz – Elk City, Kansas
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at the Altamont United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Mound Valley United Methodist Church from 6 to 8 p.m, Monday. Memorials are suggested to the Mound Valley United Methodist Church.
