Donald J. "Don" Dhooghe, 54, of Parsons, died at 12:32 p.m., Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri, following a brief illness.
He was born March 19, 1958, in Parsons, Kansas to Aloysius A. "Bud" and Elouise P. (Keyte) Dhooghe. He grew up in Parsons where he attended St. Patrick Catholic School through eighth grade and was a 1976 graduate of Parsons High School.
Following high school, he lived in Houston, Texas, for a time before returning to Parsons where he had lived since. In earlier years, he was employed by the Labette County Road and Bridge Department and was currently employed at Flesh Company in Parsons where he had worked over 25 years.
He was a Catholic. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed working in the garden, cooking and woodcarving. His greatest joy and focus was being "Poppy" to his three grandchildren whom he adored.
He and Pamela S. "Pam" Bonine were married August 20, 1994, in Parsons. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his father, "Bud" Dhooghe, on July 28, 1983; his mother, Elouise Dhooghe, on September 22, 2011; and one brother, Michael A. Dhooghe, on April 30, 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2012, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The rosary will be prayed at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home where the family will receive friends immediately following the rosary.
