Donald Lee Gibson, 84, of Parsons, passed away the evening of Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society of Parsons.
He was born on September 10, 1940, to Wayne Boyd Gibson, Sr. and Bernita (Chaffee) Gibson in Erie. He grew up and attended school in Erie, graduating from Erie High School in 1958.
For several years, Donald worked at Grandview Products. Most of his career, he was self-employed doing many general labor jobs. He especially enjoyed working outdoors, mowing lawns and cutting wood.
A man of deep Christian faith, Donald kept Christ at the center of his life. In earlier years, he was a member of the Word of Faith Church in Coffeyville. His favorite movie was The Passion of Jesus Christ, which he watched numerous times.
Donald loved to make people laugh. He loved telling jokes, even corny ones, to get a good laugh. He enjoyed watching television, especially TBN, and movies.
He and Jessie Bishop were united in marriage. The couple had two sons, Gary Lee Gibson and Richard Don Gibson. The couple later divorced. On October 4, 1996, Donald and Tammy Jo Wertz were united in marriage in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home.
He is also survived by his son, Kenneth Len Wertz and his wife, Kaleena, of Webb City, Missouri; a step-daughter, Meagan Gitchell and her husband, Chris, of Parsons, Kansas; and numerous grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wayne Gibson, Jr. and an infant brother.
No service has been planned at this time. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Cremation is under the care of the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Parsons.
