Donald C. Lyons, 61, of Parsons, died at 5:50 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2011, at the Robert J. Dole VA Hospital in Wichita.
He was born September 20, 1949, in Independence, Kansas to Edward Lyons, Sr. and Wilma Jean (McKnight) Lyons. He grew up and attended schools in Independence until moving with his family to Parsons where he attended Jr. High School and was a graduate of Parsons High School.
During the Vietnam Conflict, he served in the United States Navy. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Parsons where he lived most of his adult life. For several years, he was employed by the City of Parsons in the Water Department and also worked at Advanced Plastics for a time.
He was a member of the Hamilton Chapel United Methodist Church in Parsons.
He and Kathy Ford were married in December of 1968. They later divorced.

Very Dear and Faithful Friend – Sheryl Werner Parsons, KS
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lyons, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 21, 2011, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. At the conclusion of the visitation, a brief service will be held with the Rev. Riley Cartwright officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
