Donna Lapee

Donna M. LaPee, 78, of Chetopa, passed away at 5:15 p.m., Friday at the Chetopa Manor Nursing Home.

She was born, February 27, 1942 in Craig County, Oklahoma to Walter M. and Vera I. (Dick) Doan.  She grew up in Craig County and attended grade school in Centralia, Oklahoma and for a time in Coffeyville, Kansas before moving with her family to Chetopa, Kansas where she attended high school.

She was united in marriage to Stanley W. LaPee on December 27, 1962 in Chetopa.  Following their marriage they lived in Parsons for a time before returning to Chetopa where she had lived since.  Her husband preceded her in death on June 9, 1997.

Donna enjoyed making miniatures of all kinds, especially miniature furniture.  She also enjoyed making porcelain dolls and doing counted cross-stitch.  She was a member of the  Community Bible Church in Chetopa.

Survivors include, two sons, Stanley (Tiffany) LaPee of Chetopa and Cline (Ty) LaPee of Joplin, Missouri; five grandchildren, Danielle Ford, Richael LaPee, Tyler LaPee, Nick LaPee and Chelsea LaPee; five great-grandchildren and two sisters, Rita McGuirk (Jerry) of Chetopa and Rosetta Doan of Oswego.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the Community Bible Church in Chetopa with Rev. Randy Frazier officiating.  Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery east of Chetopa.  The family will receive friends at the church from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Community Bible Church and these may be left at the church or mailed to the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home of Chetopa.  The Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
