Donnie D. Harms, 79, of Chetopa, passed away the afternoon of Monday, December 2, 2024, at his home. His death was unexpected.
Donnie Dee Harms was born on November 26, 1945, to Earl Gordon and Ruby Arline (Griggs) Harms in Nevada, Missouri. After graduating from high school and serving in the United States Army, Donnie began a lifelong career as a truck driver. He was the owner/operator of his own trucking company at the time of his passing.
Known by the CB Handle of Ajax, Donnie was a man with a big heart, who helped a lot of people throughout the years. He loved his family and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Riding motorcycles, especially Harley's, and going fishing were two of his favorite past times.
Donnie and Roxana Joy Bascue were united in marriage. They enjoyed 46 years together.

Two sons – Kevin Harms and his wife, Sue, of Harwood, Missouri
Randy Harms and his wife, Tracy, of Harwood, Missouri
Two daughters – Nancy Sanchez of Chetopa, Kansas
Tracy Walker and her husband, Eric, of Altoona, Kansas
14 grandchildren
26 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Harms.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa. Burial will follow at Lake Creek Cemetery in Bartlett. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, until the service begins at the funeral home.
