Doris I. Benge

Doris I. Benge, 76, of Parsons, passed away at 4:55 a.m., Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Oswego Health and Rehab.

Doris Irene Banks was born on July 8, 1947, to Harold Oliver and Helen Martitia (Ristaeu) Banks in Pittsburg, Kansas.  As a young girl, she grew up and attended school in Pittsburg, graduating from Pittsburg High School in 1965.

Following high school, Doris served in the United States Air Force.  Upon her honorable discharge, she lived in St. Paul for a time, before settling in Parsons.  For 21 years, Doris worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant.  She later worked at the Caseys at 13th and Main in Parsons for a few years.

Doris enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her cat, Zena.

Survivors include:

One son – Jerry Benge of Parsons, Kansas

Two daughters – Tricia Sexton of Galesburg, Kansas

Jazmine Pauline Adams of Parsons, Kansas

11 grandchildren

Six great-grandchildren

One sister – Emma Louise Kalin of Yukon, Oklahoma

She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Stephan Wayne Benge and Zachary Scott Burke; and two sisters and one brother.

The memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2023, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.  The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m., Monday until the service begins.
