Doris R. Farrell

Doris Rae Farrell, 93, of Parsons, passed away at 9:00 p.m., Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Parsons Good Samaritan Society.

She was born April 16, 1924 in Parsons, Kansas to Ray and Goldie (James) Kelley. As a young girl, she grew up in Parsons where she attended school.

On June 8, 1943, she and James A. "Jay" Farrell were married at the Church of Immaculate Conception in Muskogee, Oklahoma. For many years, she assisted her husband in the family owned and operated business, Farrell's Grocery, located on North 16 ^th Street. Doris later worked at Consumers from 1970 until retiring in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 19, 2003.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and its Altar Society. She was also a member of the Meat Cutters Union. She loved spending time with her family. Doris also enjoyed fishing, traveling, working crossword puzzles, gambling, and playing bingo at the "V".

Three Granddaughters – Kristie Hunt, Terrie Rae Garrett, and Jackie Maier

Seven Great-Grandchildren

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Iris Jean Kelley; one daughter, Sharon Rae Godfrey; one granddaughter, Lynne Marie Tankersley; and one great-grandson, Dylan Tankersley.

According to her wishes, graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2017 at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. Friends may call at their convenience on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons.
