Rural Altamont

Dorothy L. Feagan, 84, of rural Altamont, went home to be with the Lord at 10:46 a.m., Sunday, July 25, 2021.

Dorothy Louise Johnson was born on July 4, 1937, to Roy Earl and Mary Louella (Hardin) Johnson in Parsons. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Oswego where she grew up and attended school. In 1955, she graduated from Columbus High School.

On August 24, 1956, Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Joe Feagan, in Miami, Oklahoma. Shortly after getting married, the couple moved to Parsons, where they lived until moving to rural Altamont in 1979. She was a welder at Dayton-Superior for many years until her retirement.

Dorothy met the Lord and was saved as a young girl at the Christian Church in Oswego. Currently, she was a member of the First Assembly of God in Parsons.

Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and reading.

Survivors include:

Her husband – Joe Feagan, of the home

Three sons – Joe Randal Feagan (Cathy) of Pittsburg, Kansas

Joe Reginald Feagan (Teri) of Oswego, Kansas

Kevin Feagan (Ashley) of Parsons, Kansas

One daughter – Lisa Schmidt of Parsons, Kansas

Eleven grandchildren – Kyle Feagan (Amie); Jason Feagan (Lacie); Jess Feagan (Ashley); Louise Ellis (David); Casie Yount (Jason); Bradley Feagan (Chloe); Sean Schmidt (Maria); Gage Schmidt (Destineelee); Karley Ailin (Ari); Titus Feagan; and Samantha Feagan

Eighteen great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Frank Johnson and Fred Johnson; one sister and brother-in-law, Winifred and Guy Stapleton; one son-in-law, Pat Schmidt; and one great-granddaughter, Riley May Feagan.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2021, at the Assembly of God Church in Parsons. Burial will follow at the Oswego Cemetery in Oswego. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. The funeral service can be viewed live on the Forbes-Hoffman Facebook page.
