Dorothy E. "Dee" Haviland, 82, of Parsons, passed away at 7:47 a.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Freeman West in Joplin.
Dorothy Edna Lucke was born on July 20, 1940, to Howard Lee and Edna (McGowan) Lucke in Waynesville, Missouri. As a young girl, she moved with her family to the Chanute and Erie area, where she attended school.
For two years, Dee worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant and then for thirty years, she worked as a receptionist at DuCommun Aerostructures. Dee worked for four years at Labette Health and most recently, she retired from working at the Rodeway Inn.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Parsons.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially hosting big family dinners. She enjoyed being outdoors and going shopping, especially at flea markets. For many years, Dee owned and operated a ceramics shop.
On December 30, 1955, Dee and Carl L. "Leon" Haviland were united in marriage in Iola, Kansas. He survives of the home.

Three brothers – Joe Lucke and his wife, Joyce, of Chanute, Kansas
Jack Lucke and his wife, Pat, of Buffalo, Kansas
Jerry Lucke and his wife, Karen, of Mulberry, Kansas
One sister – Dorles "Ike" Edwards of Parsons, Kansas
Several nieces, nephews and cousins
She was preceded in death by one grandson, Jeremy Haviland; two brothers, John Lucke and Jim Lucke; one sister, Mary Samson; two infant sisters, Virginia and Patricia Lucke; and niece, Marie Phillips.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
