Dorothy Arlene Johnson, 81, of Parsons, formerly of Independence, died at 2:10 a.m., Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Elmhaven East Nursing Home, in Parsons, where she had resided the past 2 ½ months.
She was born November 7, 1926, in Bloomfield, Iowa, to William and Catherine (Rouch) Yahnke. She grew up and attended school in Bloomfield.
She and Rev. Ralph H. Johnson were married June 24, 1951, in Bloomfield, Iowa. For many years, they pastored Open Bible Churches in Nebraska, South Dakota and Florida. Following her husband's retirement, they moved to Independence where she worked at the Daylight Donut Shop for 12 years. From 2004-2008, she lived at Eagle
Estates in Independence. She had recently moved to Parsons to be near family.
She attended the First Nazarene Church in Independence. She loved to cook and enjoyed growing flowers.

One Sister - Martha Heldenbrand and her husband, Jim Des Moines, IA
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ralph Johnson, on August 31, 1993; one son, Rodney "Rocky" Johnson, on February 2, 2007; and one brother, Howard Yahnke.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2008, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Independence. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the church.
