Dorothy J. Lockwood, 86, of Parsons, died at 1:02 p.m., Sunday, February 21, 2010, at Parsons Presbyterian Manor where she had resided the past year.
She was born September 10, 1923, in Akins, Oklahoma, to Walter and Pink Annie (Emberton) Green. She grew up and attended school in Oklahoma. As a young woman, she moved to Kansas where she lived in Parsons.
On December 9, 1944, she and Eugene E. Lockwood were married in Erie, Kansas. He was deployed shortly after marriage. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army during World War II, they lived in various towns in Kansas while he worked construction. In the 1960's they returned to Parsons where she had lived since.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Parsons. In earlier years, she loved flower gardening, fishing, and attending garage sales. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lockwood, on January 9, 1967; two brothers, two sisters, one infant grandson, Thomas Mac Jump, II; and one granddaughter, Sabrina Burnett.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2010, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Parsons. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
