Douglas A. "Doug" Heiskell

Douglas A. "Doug" Heiskell, 55, of Parsons, died at 2:40 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013, at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg. He was born August 20, 1957, in Parsons, Kansas, to Vernon and Fernita (Divine) Heiskell. He grew up and attended schools in Parsons and was a 1975 graduate of Parsons High School. Throughout his adult life, he worked as a concrete finisher. He was a member of the Parsons Foursquare Church, Ducks Unlimited, the National Rifle Association and the North American Hunting and Fishing Clubs. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, fixing up old cars, and going to garage sales where he was always in pursuit of a "treasure". As an avid Green Bay Packer fan, one of the highlights of his life was meeting Brett Favre. He and Mary B. (Clugston) Zwahlen were married September 20, 2001, in Parsons. She survives of the home. In addition to his wife, survivors include: His Mother – Fernita Heiskell Parsons, KS One Son – Dwayne Heiskell Parsons, KS Two Daughters – Crystal Reeves and husband, Brian Altamont, KS Amber LaPointe and husband, Martin Broken Arrow, OK One Stepson – Craig Zwahlen and wife, Sara Blue Springs, MO One Stepdaughter – Sheri LaForge and husband, Scott Oak Grove, MO Twelve Grandchildren – Joey, D.J., Quentin and Mia Reeves; Tyler, Mason and Maddi LaPointe; Bri Zimmerman, Sydney and Urcer Heiskell; Jesslin and Jacob Blackburn Four Step-grandchildren – Faith, Gracie and Finley LaForge; and Olivia Zwahlen Three Brothers – Steve Heiskell and wife, Rosie Parsons, KS Brad "Deaner" Heiskell and wife, Sharon Parsons, KS Jerry Heiskell and wife, Kerri McCune, KS Three Sisters – Peggy Karhoff and husband, Mark rural Parsons, KS Debbie Good and husband, Bob Parsons, KS Becky Swayze and husband, Merl Erie, KS Numerous Nieces and Nephews A Host of Friends He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Heiskell; one brother, "Burly" Heiskell, on January 5, 2002; and two step-granddaughters, Lilly and Annabelle Zwahlen. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 3, 2013, at the Parsons Foursquare Church. Burial will be in Springhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Parsons. Memorials are suggested to the Doug Heiskell Memorial Fund to help defray expenses.
