Douglas Everett Melton, 23, of Edna, died at 12:16 p.m., Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at St. John's Medical Center in Tulsa.

He was born October 6, 1983 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Larry E. and Susan E. (Ledbetter) Melton. He grew up in Edna. He attended Altamont Grade School and was a 2002 graduate of Labette County High School.

He enjoyed computers, watching television and was a "Hot Wheels" collector. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and his dog and cats. He was baptized and attended the Edna United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Gladys Thomas and maternal great-grandmother, Alta Foister.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the United Methodist Church in Edna. Burial will be in the North Edna Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the United Methodist Church in Edna from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2007.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa and the Kansas Make a Wish Foundation.
