Duane E. Harrington, Sr., 78, of Parsons, passed away at 3:04 a.m., Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Elmhaven Nursing Home.
Duane Eugene Harrington was born on May 4, 1943, to Hank Henry and Irene (Conant) Harrington in Hallowell, Kansas. As a young boy, he grew up and attended school near Hallowell, graduating from Columbus High School in 1961.
Following high school, Duane attended Friends University in Wichita for a time. He lived and worked in Coffeyville and Cheney, before settling in Wichita, where he owned and operated American Cab Company for many years until his retirement. In 2013, Duane moved to Parsons, where he had lived since.
While living in Wichita, he was attended the Friends Church. Duane had also attended the Nazarene Church in the past and the First Baptist Church for a time. He was an avid bowler and loved hunting. He also enjoyed watching Dodgers and Cardinals baseball and TV Westerns.
In 1961, Duane and Karen Wilson were united in marriage. The couple later divorced. He and Dee Ann Tarkowski were married. They later divorced.

Two sons – Duane E. "Geno" Harrington, Jr. of Parsons, Kansas
Jason Harrington (Christina) of Tulsa, Oklahoma
One daughter – Lisa Harrington of Parsons, Kansas
Eight grandchildren – Justin Pizzo (Ellen), Tania Allen (Andrew), Emily Gatewood (Benito Alba), Kaylee Harrington, Kaya Harrington, Alec Harrington, Shaelyn Nibarger, and Mia Toland
Three great-grandchildren – Lincoln Alba, Gavin Mahan, and Schreuer Good
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patty Harrington.
Following cremation, inurnment will take place at Springhill Cemetery in rural Parsons.
