Earl R. Brownewell, 83, of Mound Valley, died at 4:15 p.m., October 12, 2006 at his home. He had been in failing health.
He was born July 17, 1923 in Chetopa to Clarence Robert and Esther Myrtle (Eckles) Brownewell. He grew up and attended schools in Chetopa, Oswego and Altamont. He was employed for five years at Johnson Seed Company in Mound Valley. He also worked for the Parsons and Coffeyville Stockyards for 25 years and for the former Jarboe-Lackey Feed Lot now the Heritage Feeders for 34 years.
On April 11, 1948, he and Fayrene Bircher were married in rural Cherryvale. She survives of the home.
He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had served as a deacon at the Mound Valley Christian Church where he had been a member for 58 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Louise Bayes.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Mound Valley Christian Church. Burial will be in the Mound Valley Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 15, 2006 at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont.
