Earl Lloyd Stegmeir

Earl Lloyd Stegmeir, 85, of rural Coffeyville, died at 12:24 p.m., Tuesday, September 11, 2012, at his home.

He was born November 13, 1926, near Angola, Kansas, to Fred and Olive (Stuart) Stegmeir. He grew up near Angola where he attended elementary school and was a graduate of Labette County Community High School in Altamont.

During World War II, he served in the United States Army. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Angola where he farmed. Following retirement, he was a self-employed truck driver and also drove a truck for Bartlett Milling Company in Coffeyville.

He was an amateur radio operator and a member of the local amateur radio club. In earlier years, he enjoyed raising cattle and riding motorcycles. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and always had time for a cup of coffee. When out and about, you would always see Earl with his dog, Chloe.

He and Carol Ann Maxwell were married October 2, 1975, in Atlanta, Georgia. She survives of the home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 17, 2012, at Richland Cemetery near Angola. Friends may call at their convenience at the Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Altamont from noon until 8:00 p.m., on Sunday.
