Eddie Williamson, 58, of Oswego, passed away at 3:33 a.m., Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at University of Kansas Medical Center.
Eddie Eugene Williamson was born August 1, 1965, in Oswego, KS, to Edward Arthur and Barbara Elaine (Echols) Williamson. Eddie grew up in Oswego and attended Oswego schools, graduating from Oswego High School in 1983.
On March 7, 1992, he married Karen Louise Johnson. Eddie worked for Ruskin Manufacturing for almost 20 years, the City of Oswego for 12 years and USD 504 for 8 years. Eddie was a bi-vocational pastor & preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was gifted with discerning the Word of God and communicating life application. He was ordained in ministry at First Baptist Church in Mound Valley, KS. He preached there for 5 years, then at First Southern Baptist Church in Oswego for 13 years and most recently at the Backroom Fellowship in Chetopa, KS, for the past 9 years. The Backroom Fellowship was his legacy. Eddie was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Oswego, KS, where he enjoyed helping with the youth duck hunt.
Eddie was good at anything he set his mind to. He loved playing slow pitch softball, music, bow hunting deer and duck hunting with his dad, brothers, nephews and friends. Eddie loved his Boykin Spaniel named Church and spending time training him to retrieve waterfowl. He loved people, especially children, and loved making people laugh and being the life of the party. He truly cared about people and wanted everyone to know Jesus as their Lord & Savior. He enjoyed being Santa Claus and time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Karen, of the home. Three children, Joel Williamson and his fiancé, Elizabeth Standridge, of Joplin, MO; Mariah Wicker and her husband, Benajah, of Parsons, KS; Kristen Ontiveros and her husband, Dominic, of Murray, UT; a granddaughter, Laurel Elise Ontiveros; his mother, Barbara Williamson, of Altamont, KS; Two brothers, Tommy Williamson and his wife, Tonya; and Robert Williamson and his wife, Debbie, of Oswego, KS; nephews and nieces, Tristen Williamson, Dillon Williamson, Lacy Atkins, Demitri Garrett, Deonta Garrett & D'Adrian Garrett.
The Celebration of Life will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at the Western Way Cowboy Church in Altamont. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Western Way Cowboy Church.
